Guide

What to prepare for a website designer.

You do not need a finished specification. A few clear facts make the first website conversation much more useful.

Your business

  • Business name and the way it should appear publicly
  • Main services or products
  • Areas or markets genuinely served
  • Current website, if there is one

Your customers

  • Who normally buys from you
  • What they usually need when they first make contact
  • Questions or objections they often have
  • The main action you want a website visitor to take

Your content

  • Service descriptions or existing brochures worth reusing
  • Project photos you would like to include
  • Current qualifications, memberships or certifications
  • Reviews or testimonials

Your visual direction

Share existing brand files and examples of websites you find clear or appropriate. Explain what you like about them rather than asking for a copy of another company's design.

Your technical needs

  • Existing domain and hosting information
  • Forms or enquiry routes required
  • Booking, payment or other integrations you need
  • Analytics or search accounts already in use
